Finly is a modern, privacy-focused, open-source personal finance and wealth management system. It runs 100% locally on your machine or private server without third-party cloud telemetry or subscription fees.

## Core Features

- Direct Bank Sync: Direct synchronization with European and French banking institutions using the open-source Woob engine directly from your IP address.
- 100% Local & Encrypted: Credentials are encrypted with symmetric AES-256 Fernet cryptography. Data is stored in a local SQLite database.
- Wealth & Multi-Asset Tracking: Real-time net worth tracking across checking accounts, savings, investments, and custom assets.
- Expense Tracking & Categorization: Automatic transaction categorization with custom rules and merchant analytics.
- Envelope Budgeting: Zero-based budgeting with visual consumption gauges.
- Cashflow Forecasting: Inflow versus outflow projection and liquidity curves.
- Multi-Platform Desktop & Server: Standalone desktop apps for Windows (.exe), macOS (.dmg), Linux (.deb / .tar.gz), and Docker Compose deployment.

## Technical Architecture

- Frontend: Next.js 16, React 19, Tailwind CSS, Shadcn UI, Recharts, Lucide Icons.
- Backend: FastAPI, Python 3.11+, SQLAlchemy, SQLite, APScheduler, Fernet AES-256 encryption.
- Bank Connectors: Woob (Web Outside of Browsers).
- Packaging: PyInstaller with embedded Python runtime for desktop builds.
